When I first questioned the possibility of becoming a Reiki practitioner, I was given this article to settle my skepticism and fears. I cannot find the original website where this was from, yet I feel this is important information to share with others. Therefore I am sharing here now with credit to the original author.
REIKI AND CHRISTIANITY
by The Reverend Dr. Lance, D.D., Ph.D., Ordained Minister, Certified Teaching Reiki master (The Usui System-Usui Shiki Ryoho), Independent
REIKI IS NOT THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE
Reiki, first of all, is not a miraculous panacea and Reiki Is NOT the Practice of Medicine nor the practice of Veterinary Medicine. A Reiki master or practitioner does not diagnose, does not treat, does not cure, does not prescribe medicine, nor do they prevent disease or illness unless they are also a properly licensed physician or doctor working under the purview of their license as issued by their state medical board according to state law. Anyone who is ill or has any condition that warrants the services of a medical professional is well-advised to seek a licensed health care doctor or other licensed health professional which includes licensed counselor or psychotherapist. Reiki Does Not Take The Place Of A Licensed Medical Doctor Or Any Other Health Care Professional.
If Reiki is being considered for animals, it is well-advised to seek a licensed Veterinarian FIRST. Reiki is benevolent Spiritual energy coming from God thus, God through His Son Christ Jesus, is in Full Control of the situation instead of the Reiki master or Practitioner who serves merely as a ‘channel’ for His energy.
“….For Without Me Ye Can Do Nothing.”—JOHN 15:5.
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” — 1 Corinthians 12:7;
“To another faith by the same spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;”—I Corinthians 12: 9;
“But all these worketh that one and the sameself Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”—I Corinthians 12:11.
Christ Jesus brings us Reiki and decides how it will work. Reiki energy is Theonomous And Works According to Divine Will. “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”—ROMANS 13: 1-2.
And, of course, with Reiki there are No Guarantees ever since, ultimately, it is God who controls whatever healing or transformation may transpire.
REIKI DOES NOT EVER TAKE THE PLACE OF GOD! It must be clearly understood that Reiki Does Not Ever Take the Place Of God but rather works only with the power of God. Reiki Symbols also do not take the place of prayer and are but a mere tool to facilitate further intent. Reiki works wonderfully with prayers! “and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. Theeffectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”—JAMES 5:16.
“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”—MARK 11:24. The Holy Bible also has this to say about the laying-on-of-hands and prayer: “And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.”—ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 28:8 (Christ Jesus in His Divinity would merely lay hands on a person or speak DivineWords to effect Positive changes and healing but when other people do the laying-on-of-hands In His Name along with prayer, great things may also happen since Christ said we could do even greater works than He!) Christ also prayed to His Father.
Reiki is not owned by any one religion or serves only one but rather it is practiced and taught by our brothers and sisters throughout the world from many religions. “And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.”—MATTHEW 4:24 (This passage tells us that Jesus healed without reservation all those who were in need and without regard to their background or religion.) Christ would not stop to inquire first as to what religion or background a person had, as a prequalification before he would do His healing work on them. Christ also commanded His disciples to Go Out And Do Healing Work for everyone in need. This is something many Christian churches have abandoned most unfortunately, or have not followed closely. “And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. “—LUKE 10: 8-9. So, according to Christ Jesus, healing must be included for those who are ill whenever one preaches! Reiki and Christianity… there are people who feel the two are not compatible. I cannot share that feeling and perhaps my following Opinions coupled with the thought of Proof (as is known to many) of the many wonderful blessings they have received and/or seen God perform with Reiki (including my own experiences), will explain why.
If you are familiar with The Usui System – Usui Shiki Ryoho, you would know that:
1. We have studied, through our spiritual lineage in The Usui System -Usui Shiki Ryoho, that Dr. Mikao Usui, who rediscovered Reiki, was a Christian Minister and Teacher. Those who would question that would need to ask Dr. Usui, personally, about his religious background, convictions and preferences but since he has made his transition, truly no one should attempt to disregard Usui Shiki Ryoho teachings so as to say otherwise of these historical teachings. The Buddhist aspect comes in since there is an Eastern version of Reiki as well as a Western. They are, however, from two very different Systems, schools of thought and lineages. And since Reiki originated in Japan and the primary religion there is Buddhism, it seems often comfortable to those who follow the Eastern teachings to say that it had Buddhist origins. But you must remember that Buddhism is a religion.Reiki Is Not A Religion, it is benevolent Spiritual Energy from God that just happened to have been rediscovered in Japan, a country where Buddhism predominates. Therefore, and based upon that, one cannot logically say that it is completely based upon Buddhism, that is, upon just one religion since it is ultimately GOD who conducts Reiki energy for Positive transformation without regard to religion and we should all certainly know, unequivocally, that a religion cannot do that. Another thing to consider, in my opinion, is that Christ Jesus practiced the laying-on-of-hands on people and it is uncertain whether Buddhists also practice the laying-on-of-hands in the manner of Christ. In order to understand this better and be able to place it in its proper perspective and arrive at a logical conclusion, we have to go back to the very beginning of Dr. Usui’s experience and the fact that the history of Usui Shiki Ryoho teaches us that his students at the university in Japan asked him how CHRIST JESUS healed. With all due respect, they did not ask him about Buddha. That was what prompted Dr. Usui to set about his journey that led to his rediscovery of Reiki in his quest to learn how CHRIST healed. That is the KEY As To Whose Techniques, Etc. We Should Actually Follow In Reiki. Jesus would also heal and socialize with many people, some of them questionable to those who would dare place themselves in a position to judge. He healed all who came to Him and socialized with those whom His critics considered suspect. Reiki is also inclusive of all religions and does not discriminate on the basis of religion as anyone from any religion can practice Reiki. And of course, one must also be cognizant of the fact that Dr. Usui did not prequalify people by asking them what religion they belonged to in order for them to receive the laying-on-of-hands called Reiki. Neither did Christ Jesus when He did laying-on-of-hands (as previously stated). Dr. Usui offered to do Reiki to those who asked him and who were in need. So, that leaves the connection to Christianity (but again, keeping in mind that Reiki is not a religion). And this, again in part, since Dr. Usui’s students asked him how Christ Jesus healed and as we have learned, Dr. Usui was a Christian and did the laying-on-of-hands similar to the Biblical, you can therefore, arrive at your own conclusions but a great many of us see a strong tie and connection between Reiki and Christianity from this. Another similarity between Reiki and Christianity, also worthy of note, is that Dr. Usui was looking for people in search of True Light and if people wanted to find the Light, they were welcome to follow him. What a great example Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus had set for Dr. Usui and all of those who follow Christ! Christ invited those who wished to find enlightenment to follow Him and listen to His teachings!
- Dr. Usui’s students, as just mentioned, asked him how +++ CHRIST JESUS+++ performed His healings. After many years of searching, he rediscovered the Keys to healing spiritually and for transformation, on Mt. Kuri Yama, in Japan, and however helpful they are, it cannot be deemed with great certainty that this was the exact way in which Christ healed as only Christ could tell us that and of course, Christ Jesus is Divine and has Infinite Healing Power and man is not therefore, Christ’s way is the complete way, needless to say, but Reiki energy also comes from God thus, it comes from the Source of all. Christ’s healings centered upon the integration of body, mind and spirit for human wholeness. Reiki, which is Theonomous, affirms that same principle.
2 (A). And one must remember that the History of The Usui System – Usui Shiki Ryoho, teaches us that when Dr. Usui was on Mt. Kuri Yama, during his 21-day experience spiritually searching, on the last day, a Very Bright Light came down From the Sky and gave Dr. Usui the Keys he was searching for. In essence, this was his initiation into what would later become known as “Reiki”. Bear in mind that the Light did not come from “underneath” to him as there is no Light there but that which comes from Heaven. The Spiritual Blessings and Keys he received by way of his initiation or attunement into Reiki may further be regarded as a blessing from Heaven, with information that is now being used to help mankind in a most Loving and benevolent manner all over the world. Reiki therefore, appears to be the vehicle for further proof to reinforce reality to many worldwide that God truly Loves mankind and that His wonderful mercy, in part, is disseminated by way of those who are called to do His work and be In His Service. - Reiki is a Spiritual and Sacred energy (because it comes from God) accomplished by the laying-on-of-hands. And the laying-on-of-hands is similar to that which is spoken about in The Holy Bible and practiced by many Christians. It is also an Anointment from God who actually directs the energy into the recipient, through the vessel or “channel” for the spiritual energy (the Reiki master or practitioner) according to Divine Will. .Again, it must be stressed that the energy does not come from man but from God. “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”—ROMANS 13: 1-2. The unfortunate part is that there are some who feel that they “own” the laying-on-of-hands and that it should only be used by them or their church. God surely does not want people to think that way, and most unfortunately, these forceful people could try to keep others from practicing Reiki or any other benevolent laying-on-of-hands through their scare tactics—that is, if people actually listen to those who are ill-informed on this matter. Those trying to scare people off may have to answer for their actions during their judgment since Reiki *does not* involve anything that is negative and one reaps the actual seeds that they sow since all is written in the Book of Life. It is the hope, that God will move to enlighten and help those who try to control others through fear and innuendo, with the removal of their fear of the Benevolent and Loving processes used in Reiki that help mankind. PHILIPPIANS 2:3
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” This is brought forth in reference to those who try to do the thinking for other people, including some in the clergy, feeling that somehow they are more important than their fellow man and that people should therefore, obey and follow their orders, of course, going against what God has given Each Individual — Free Will To Make THEIR OWN Choices In Life.
A pastor or clergyman can be a shepherd to their flock and to paraphrase an old saying “You can lead a flock to water but you can’t make them drink”. This should hold true in this instance as well. And please be reminded that not even God will interfere with a person’s individual Free Will choice in life unless it has been preordained.
3 (A). As a similarity to God giving people Free Will choice in matters, Reiki, of course coming from God, is also not known to go against one’s own Free Will in the acceptance of the energy. When a recipient receives Reiki, they are free to (a). Accept (b). Reject or (c). Merely Observe the energy. A recipient’s soul-self or higher-self will dictate whether they wish to accept Reiki at that point in time or not. So, even if a person consciously gives permission for Reiki to be done, if their soul-self does not agree with that, the Reiki energy will simply relocate elsewhere until it is called upon with full intent to integrate with the recipient. Jesus said “Ask and You Shall Receive”. Reiki is there for you to receive, but your inner soul-self has to first Ask for it in order for it to manifest.
- Reiki is about bringing Unconditional Love, Light and Spiritually Sacred energy to the world! Reiki has also been called a “Spiritual Healing Art”. Mankind cannot create such spiritually healing energy by and of itself without God’s intervention. Those who would make something bad of this, more than likely, would also not believe in nor fully promote the true essence of Unconditional Love, God’s Light and Spiritually Sacred matters as they might not fully understand the concept. On some level they might perceive a challenge, a misunderstanding about what God’s work is about. Again, Reiki is benevolent spiritual energy from God, as all spiritual, Loving energy used to help heal mankind is God-Sent. III JOHN 2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
Additionally, 5. Reiki works wonderfully with Christian prayers! I use it in this manner and it really produces beautiful results when I invoke Christ Jesus! The laying-on-of-hands is part of my Christian spiritual ministry thus, Reiki is an integral part of using that which is similar to the Biblical method.
- Remember, one of Dr. Usui’s Five Spiritual – Ethical Principles is “Honor Your Parents, Teachers and Elders.”. This Principle includes Christ Jesus, The Son of God, who is honored for being Our Father, our Heavenly Parent as well as our teacher and elder, and for what He teaches us as well as what He gives unto us (the ability to be a channel for Reiki energy accomplished through the laying-on-of-hands). Dr. Usui’s Five Spiritual – Ethical Principles (presented on “Usui Reiki Net – With God’s Love Embracing Humanity”), are wonderful examples, Each and Every One of them, of how God through His Son Christ Jesus, would want for us to live.
- The Usui teachings, as given to us through Dr. Chujiro Hayashi (second in the Spiritual Lineage of Dr. Usui) and Reverend Hawayo Hiromi Takata (third in the Spiritual Lineage of Dr. Usui) are quite replete with information about the Source of Reiki being from God. Reiki, of course, is shown as a spiritual laying-on-of-hands, with God through His Son Christ Jesus, bringing this energy to us. And let’s also not forget that the “Rei” in Reiki makes reference to God. The “ki” part is referencing His omnipotent energy that no one should deny is truly everywhere. Therefore, the word “Rei-ki” means the all-permeating, omnipresent spiritual energy that is allowed to come to us through God. And further, concerning the Laying-On-Of-Hands, The Holy Bible has this to say: “Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.”—ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 8:18.
Some similarities between Reiki and Christianity, which cannot be thoroughly discussed here due to their sacred nature, include a certain act a Bishop would perform to Confirm a church member. Likewise, when a Catholic priest takes his priestly vows, God makes a connection with him for bringing healing unto parishioners, just as He does when a Reiki Master assists God in bestowing Reiki upon a recipient. And Catholic priests are also known to use anointing with oil on their parishioners (to include Extreme Unction) and if you have noticed, they anoint the Brow Chakra (Third Eye Chakra) and the Throat Chakra, etc.. In other rituals, they also cross white candlesticks and place them around the throat to bless the throat area. Reiki uses the light laying-on-of-hands for God’s anointing in those same areas, without the use of oil and/or candles, more the way Christ would have done.
REIKI IS NOT ABOUT MAGIC OR “BAD SPIRITS” There will be some people who will also try citing Biblical passages that speak of “bad spirits” trying to disguise themselves as “Angels of Light” that come to try to deceive people with magic, as those people try to make a desperate connection to those who speak favorably about Reiki including masters and practitioners. Reiki does not use magic in its work! It uses the Power of God. But again, these people’s penchant for presenting misinformation simply boggles the logical-thinking mind. But I do feel that those who present such fear to others are living in a constant state of fear themselves that they cannot logically stop long enough to first learn about Reiki and perhaps even experience it in order to be able to speak from a more informed and intelligent point of view. It would be best, in my opinion, if they considered keeping an open mind to that which is Spiritual in nature, that which comes from God, instead of using outright condemnation of that which they perceive is a threat to their own personal belief system and/or that of others whom they feel should also think they way they do and perceive Reiki as a threat, just because they personally believe it is.
II TIMOTHY 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
And some of these people will even go so far as to cite passages from The Holy Bible that would not directly apply to God’s Loving and Benevolent work. But remember, anyone who tries to restrain others from bringing more Love and benevolent energy and kindness into the world by using fear and innuendo is doing a great disservice to Christ Jesus, the Source and Conductor of ALL healing energy for mankind, which presents Reiki, through the laying-on-of-hands. As Christians, We Worship Christ Jesus, and of course, knowing full well that we, of and by ourselves cannot effect any healing in our own right but only that which comes by and through Him with we, serving only as the vessels or ‘channels’ for His healing as He so directs. We FIRST ask Christ for the energy of His Divine healing as is most proper and correct, and we should always remember to Thank Him afterwards for whatever may transpire. Please see MARK 16:18, “….they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”. So, the laying-of-hands on the sick is an integral part of our religion as well as our Reiki spirituality as Christians, and Christ has commissioned us to use this method! We need not be afraid or intimidated to do this In His Name! For man may make light of it, criticize it or ridicule it but we know in our heart that Christ TOLD us that it was alright. **And Since Christ Jesus Has Given Us This Commission, What Greater Power Could There Be To Retract It!** And lest one forget, the laying-on-of-hands, when done by Christians In The Name Of Christ, even going under any other name, including “Reiki”, still has God initiating and transferring this benevolent energy unto the recipient(s). Therefore, one must be careful not to allow others to bring fear and confusion into Reiki teachings and practice. Again, it is important to mention II TIMOTHY 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
I CORINTHIANS 12:4-10 tells us: “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:”. So you see, it all boils down to what I just finished saying in the previous paragraph, that when the laying-on-of-hands is done, even going by any other name, i.e., “Reiki”, it still has God initiating and transferring the benevolent energy to the intended party.
As a Christian, I feel that Usui Reiki is included in the part that Christ Jesus spoke about when He said to us , “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” – JOHN 14:12-14. The KEY is that the ones who can do the works and even greater works that Jesus did and continues to do are those who BELIEVE in Him and that obviously includes many Christian Reiki masters and practitioners. Even greater works can start with bringing Love and God’s Light into a hurting world! I also realize something very important, that the Reiki energy does not come from me but from GOD. HE, Is The TRUE SOURCE Of ALL Energy including, of course, the healing energy in laying-on-of hands or hands-on healing modalities or techniques. Similarly, MATTHEW 18:20, should be especially helpful to those who are participating in Reiki and who are Christians because as Christ tells us “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them”. Christians who together give or receive Reiki obviously have Christ Jesus in mind when they receive spiritually healing energy as most Christians know that Only God, through His Most Divine Son Christ Jesus, can perform any healings.
II TIMOTHY 2:7 “Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.”
MARK 5: 23 “And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed and she shall live.”
HEBREWS 6: 2-3 “Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.”
And speaking of the resurrection of the dead, Christ Jesus raised the dead and taught His disciples to do likewise. And Reverend Hawayo Hiromi Takata, third in the spiritual lineage from Dr. Usui, was also said to have performed Reiki on a deceased person and the person resurrected. This, again, appears to be the proof of what Jesus told us when He said that We Could Do Even Greater Works Than He! How truly blessed and wonderful! We should be ever thankful for having been allowed this great honor to serve our fellow man. REVELATION 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Rev.Takata never forgot to both Thank and Honor God when she did Reiki, and she also thanked and honored God during her prayers that she said daily. She gave ALL credit To God! She said it was not she who was doing any transformation or healings, but GOD! We should ALL be enlightened enough to follow her example.
LEVITICUS 19:18 “Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt LOVE thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.”.
But some people even go out of their way spending precious time, unwisely, trying to make Reiki and its practitioners appear bad and even going so far as to belittle a person for his or her own personal spiritual practice of Reiki, but many times it is because they do not fully understand what they are talking about, nevertheless they are not Loving their neighbor by their actions. And when people are afraid and misinformed, a prime instinct appears to be to condemn that which they do not understand. This has been proven time and time again throughout the ages. It is very sad as there is no LOVE in that. Reiki benevolently helps humanity towards Loving, self-improvement. Therefore, there can be nothing which would constitute an un-Christian practice from it. It is further sad to think of those who do not wish to understand this, but as the saying goes “There are none so blind as those who will not see.”! It would be most interesting to see if those people have ever attended a Reiki Introductory Lecture or had Reiki done to them before. I would suspect not, for if they had, they would more than likely be able to see things quite differently with a more positive perspective, and hopefully, not in a negative light brought about through a dire lack of understanding.
REIKI IS MOST CERTAINLY NOT ASSOCIATED WITH DEMONIC WORKS! When people get to a certain point or even start conversation having to do with (God Forbid!), Satan The Adversary, and possession (making the Sign of the Cross, In the Name of Jesus Christ), one thing to point out or to consider making these very misguided people aware of is simply this: Some say this is bad or one of ‘Satan’s tricks’, but Know and Understand this: Satan has NEVER Ever been known to provide Any HEALING or Good to anyone! By contrast, God’s transformative and healing energy in Reiki is the antithesis of demonic works! Reiki is Benevolent, Loving, Spiritual energy that comes from God because of its God-Directed healing and transformative abilities. SATAN WOULD NEVER BRING HEALING OR WELL-BEING TO ANY HUMAN BEING!
MATTHEW 12:26 “And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?”
Many of us who are ministers as well as non-ministers who practice and teach Reiki highly resent it being associated with “demonic possession”, God Forbid! We further wonder where is the Unconditional Love these ministers and others are supposed to have who may be saying this! Or would they rather come from a place of doubt, fear, innuendo and negativity? Lovingly, I will say that they need to learn more about Reiki before they continue frightening people who go to them seeking comfort and peace but instead leave, after having received an ample dose of fear-mongering. “But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.”—MARK 9:39
Dear friend, consider this—If Reiki leads to “demonic possession”, then I submit to you that many Priests, Nuns, Sisters, Ministers as well as other clergy, and the tremendous number of Doctors and Nurses plus other professionals who are now practicing and teaching Reiki, would surely be in a POWERFUL position to tell you Quite Differently! There is even a book on Reiki that tells of a nun being allowed to practice Reiki By The Pope. It makes prudent sense to mention to them that many religious, Christian people now Practice and Teach Reiki as it is presented with God’s spiritual energy which, of course, is never used to cause any harm to anyone. One just has to further wonder what these imprudent people who use scare tactics on others would have done over a century ago if the portable wireless telephone had been around then and they had heard people talking on it!
REIKI IS NOT “NEW AGE” There is also the misguided notion that Reiki is associated with the “New Age” or is a “New Age” teaching. That is not correct. Reiki has been in existence for at least 2,500 years, dating back to the Time of Christ therefore, it is quite incorrect to group it with NEW Age teachings though there will be some who will continue to incorrectly espouse this as they feel that if naive people who do not know the difference believe this, they will turn against Reiki and perhaps even its practitioners. Again, it is quite sad to see the extent these unruly people will go to in their fervor to condemn that which they do not understand. Remember, Reiki is not New Age, It Has Been Around for at least Two Millenniums. According to the spiritual teachings, Dr. Usui merely rediscovered Reiki in the late 1800’s during his great spiritual experience on Mt. Kuri Yama when the Reiki Keys descended from the sky and were presented to Dr. Usui, as they had not been found for millenniums. The Usui System, which Dr. Usui founded, does not teach any “new age” methods to be used with his system, e.g., Reiki with crystals, cards, the ‘channeling’ of foreign beings, etc.. Usui Reiki does not need any superficial add-ons, it works complete on its own spiritual God-given merits. Those who would categorize Reiki as “New Age” would more than likely also erroneously place all laying-on-of-hands spiritual healing, including that administered by some churches, under a “New Age” practice.
I have been asked the following question: IN REIKI, WORDS LIKE ‘HARNESSING UNIVERSAL LIFE ENERGY’ AND OTHER NEW AGE-SOUNDING-THOUGHTS ARE SOMETIMES USED. WONDER WHY? THIS APPEARS LIKE “PSEUDO-SPIRITUAL DEMONISM”?
First of all, in The Usui System – Usui Shiki Ryoho, there are no “ New Age Add-Ons”, only God’s energy which is, of course, complete in itself. People often express themselves in different ways and not always with a religious context since Reiki is not a religion, per se. When one hears the term “harnessing universal life energy”, we have to Stop right there, and ask ourselves—But who generates that universal life energy for us? The answer is GOD does, and not us, since it is ‘universal’ and pertains to Life which only God can create. Reiki Is But A Mere TOOL From God With Which To Bring His Unconditional Love and Light Unto The World. There will be some who will use whatever words they so individually choose, in order to conform to their own personal belief system. However, without the higher belief in God, at least on some level, as the Source of ALL energy, Reiki would not be effective.
Therefore, a person’s Superconscious, the area where God communicates to man, has to first have some degree of belief in Him (and again on a level that may not be a conscious one necessarily) before Reiki can work, since this spiritual energy comes from Him and not us. Through personal choice, some will not openly declare a belief in God as we all know. However, and again, we have to stop and think that without God, man’s own personal energy is quite limited and could not possibly effect the wonders that God’s pure energy can. And no, Reiki is not “pseudo-spiritual demonism”. Far from it! If it were, the many priests, sisters, nuns as well as other clergypeople across the world, including I, would not be using it to help mankind! (Please read my article “Reiki and Christianity” for a better understanding of this.) And while on this subject you have brought up, and on a different note, please remember that even Lucifer, while he was an angel in Heaven, believed in God. It is obvious that he still does, not only because he has actually seen Him but because he knows that there is no greater One than God and must always bow before Him! So, even though he may not openly declare Him as God or honor Him anymore, he KNOWS, on another level, that He is God and that only through God can wonderful healings and other things take place. Do you now see the point I am trying to make?
Concerning the mundane, some will not always fully and openly declare their personal spiritual beliefs, and may even go as far as to make no declaration at all whatsoever. That is their own Free Will choice in the matter. But in order to act as a vessel for Spiritual, Loving energy (like Reiki), those wanting to use what God has given to us, must have a belief in God, at least on some level, otherwise it is as if they would also foolishly believe that they made themselves and have full control over everything in the universe, which would be Unequivocally False. Again, on another note, Lucifer was condemned by God for his greed in wanting to be like God and he remains rightfully condemned! This should be a good lesson to all of us on Earth of what can happen when one is greedy, selfish, uses personal ego, and wants to claim for themselves God’s power, as if it was their own, instead of acknowledging that GOD IS ACTUALLY THE POWER, THE TRUE SOURCE (as I have brought out through Scripture on the very first page of my website). Hope this answers your questions.
Another question that has also been asked is the following. The answer to that is also included:
Q: I hear the word “channel” sometimes used in Reiki by some practitioners. Do you channel “guides” or something like that?
A: That question appears somewhat related to one identified and answered in this article. In The Usui System, the word ‘channel’ is simply referring to the Reiki master or practitioner being a VESSEL for the energy that comes from God. In other words, God passes His benevolent spiritual energy through the Reiki master or practitioner so that the person they are laying hands on can receive it. The energy with which to work is thus being ‘channeled through’ and just like a priest or clergyperson may lay hands on another to convey (i.e., channel) God’s blessing, anointing, etc. Reiki uses the same principle with God also sending the energy.
There are no “guides” (used as a loose term) to work with in Usui Reiki. God Is Our Guide and we invoke His wonderful presence when we are doing Reiki and of course, He does ‘guide’ us many times as to which movements to make or how long to lightly hold the hands in a certain position, etc. If the term ‘guide’, however, is referring to ‘foreign beings’ or discarnate spirits, in general, or something like that that may be brought forth in Reiki, that simply does not hold true nor is it taught in The Usui System – Usui Shiki Ryoho. In Reiki, There Is Absolutely and Unequivocally No Need For Any Other Than God’s Spirit.
REIKI IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH HYPNOSIS, PSYCHIC ‘HEALING’ WORK OR ANY BELIEF SYSTEM Usui Reiki does not incorporate or use hypnosis nor is it mentioned or taught in the classes other than perhaps, to let the initiate know that Reiki is not associated with that particular practice or modality. Likewise, it is not psychic “healing” which, by the way, is quite different from Reiki. For one thing, unlike psychic energy work, with Reiki, a Reiki student or initiate has to receive a spiritual initiation or attunement to the energy that God conducts. This is done through a qualified, certified Reiki master in order that Reiki can be passed on to the initiate or student, and one does not use their own energy and power as in psychic energy work, which can serve to deplete the giver’s own energy. In psychic energy work, the person conducting the energy transference often has to shake their fingers or hands as if shaking water from them. This is due to the fact that when one uses their own energy during energy work, they can pick up another’s energy quite easily. With Reiki, we are taught that since we are merely ‘channels’ for the energy and the energy is not from us, the need to “shake the fingers or hands” simply does not exist. Reiki masters and practitioners simply step aside and let God take over as He so directs. There is no conscious hard work involved whatsoever in directing the energy since it is Christ Jesus who takes over as soon as hands are lightly placed or Reiki is done by absentia (the hands-off method) whenever it may be used. Reiki is not a belief system. Reiki is sacred energy that comes from God, thus belief in Reiki or a Reiki system is not necessary, only belief In God, The Source of this benevolent and loving energy.
REIKI IS NOT PART OF THE OCCULT Another concern is the belief, on the part of some, that Reiki has something to do with the occult. The word “occult” is commonly defined as that which is secret or hidden or having to do with the supernatural. If one was to split-hairs about things that are secret or hidden in mainstream churches alone, for example, it may prove to be a non-ending exercise. Yet, many Christian churches readily associate the word “supernatural” with Christ, as in “The Supernatural Body Of Christ”. However, many Christian people also generally believe anything that has to do with the occult is evil and people should stay away from it. Reiki would therefore, Not be a part of the occult since Reiki uses no dark forces or evil things and is not used to hurt but to lovingly bring God’s benevolent energy to those in need! It appears, however, that when the word “occult” suits people’s conveniences, the word takes on a ‘Different’ meaning. It cannot be stressed too many times, so I am repeating, Reiki is benevolent and with God’s direction is used to help bring Transformation and Spiritual Healing with Love and is not used to hurt anyone, since it is God who is being invoked.
REIKI IS NOT A CULT Another reference unfortunately and undeservedly made about Reiki by the uninformed, is an association to a “Cult”. A cult makes reference to religious beliefs or worship. It can also mean the belief in curing disease with certain criteria developed by its founder. Usui Reiki makes no such claims or promises. Again, Reiki is not a medical practice and the energy brought forth is from God who Knows what to use and what to do with any given situation. Masters and practitioners of Reiki, even if they wished to follow criteria, have no such control over what will happen during or after a Reiki session. It has been stated many times that Reiki is not a religion and that one does not worship Reiki but it bears repeating. Therefore, the association some are trying to make to Reiki is most incorrect and it must also be mentioned that most cults also have a leader, Reiki does not. Each master and/or practitioner is completely independent and does not have to answer to his or her teaching master because there is no “Reiki General” at the top of a “flow chart”, so to speak, to answer to. They do or should however, follow the Usui Teachings and History as passed down from the Usui spiritual lineage of The Usui System – Usui Shiki Ryoho. Reiki involves God and as such, He is The One who is in Full Control at all times as the master and/or practitioner simply steps aside to allow God to do the work as He sees fit.
A PERSON SHOULD NOT PLACE THEIR TRUST IN REIKI BUT IN GOD! As to the misguided notion, on the part of some, that one places their trust in Reiki > (the word) as opposed to Placing Their Trust In God, that simply is Not Correct and they Must Know and Completely Understand that. To that, one might consider mentioning that people also tend to place their trust for their needs in that which they personally believe in, for example, in those ‘material’ items that resonate with them such as their favorite tapes, books, certain food items, diets, varied self-help tools, holding church pot-luck dinners or “jamaicas” to raise money, etc., instead of simply placing their trust in God for their needs. Should they not therefore, be placing their trust in God instead of in these things? Yet, God has given us ALL of these things and much, much More with which to help ourselves. We are indeed fortunate in that God has given us many great and helpful things as well as great energies e.g., electricity, magnetism and Reiki, to help us out but they too are merely tools. Our TRUST is in God and should ALWAYS be! Likewise, Reiki, as a mere word, is but an Energy Tool as the Actual transformative or healing energy is Sent By God to help those in need. Since the energy comes from God, We Therefore, PLACE OUR TRUST IN GOD to grant whatever HE wills to be, in each and every situation. That is why there are No Guarantees in and with Reiki and could never be. Simply, because it is God who controls the energy thus, we cannot ever know how HE will rule in any given situation and how things will turn out. That should get those who are misinformed about Reiki to at least listen and consider what has just been said and then if they’re open-minded enough, find that it is true.
THE USUI REIKI SYMBOLS ARE JAPANESE KANJI AND ARE MERELY BENEVOLENT SPIRITUAL TOOLS Since Reiki contains Symbols (for Second Degree and higher) in Japanese “Kanji”, it is also possible that some Christians in America as well as in other countries do not understand what these Symbols, deemed to be spiritual tools, represent, since they are in a foreign language/script and therefore may think that they are not good. Reiki masters and practitioners do not “worship” these Symbols! They are but mere spiritual tools with which to augment Reiki work. Remember, many Christian denominations also use spiritual tools i.e., certain icons such as statues, crosses, relics, holy water, holy oil, etc. and sometimes include incense and candles as a fuller expression of their faith. They also may have their religious/spiritual writings in a language that others may likewise not understand (German, Spanish, Italian, French, etc.). And just like Christian prayer that can extend through infinite time and space, Reiki also has a special Symbol to be used with prayerful intent to send Reiki energy at a distance (by absentia) in the Second Degree. Remember That Christ Did Not Have To Always Be Present For His Healing Work *To Be Effective*!
The Holy Bible informs us that when a nobleman came forth and called upon Christ to heal his son who was near death, Christ, in effect, told him that he was healed already, without Him having to personally be in his presence (JOHN 4: 46-50). So, prayers and Reiki can likewise be sent anywhere in the world and beyond with no barriers in time and distance. Remember, Reiki Works Very Well With Prayers and Intent!
The Reiki Symbols are deemed to be spiritual tools according to the teachings > (because of their benevolent and different vibrational frequencies whose purpose is to help mankind, and in the use of Reiki, ALL Is Powered By God). The Symbols are kept secure and confidential for use only by those masters, Second Degree practitioners and Second Degree students who are serious about its special-purpose usage, and just like Moses did not reveal how he turned his staff into a serpent or how he parted the Red Sea, because of the dire Spiritual Significance of such sacred information and the need for confidentiality, Usui Shiki Ryoho also maintains this most Spiritual information secure that is used to help mankind. It would have been most irresponsible for Moses to carelessly reveal that which came from God in this regard, and so it is with Reiki work involving the Symbols and the Initiation methods. Reiki is special spiritual work and as such, Must Always Be Honored and Respected and one must be careful not to let that information which is meant only for serious, qualified masters and practitioners, fall into careless hands that could treat it with disrespect, dishonor and utter skepticism. But as to the misinformed, they seem to take great pleasure in finding creative ways just to become confrontational with Reiki, under the pretense that it is “un-Christian”, and again, that is most unfortunate as that is certainly not a Fair and Loving act on their part but more importantly, it is not the correct assessment of this God-given energy and one has to understand that. Also, The Holy Bible, while not mentioning Reiki specifically by that name (no doubt because it is a Japanese word), naturally does not condemn it as it is a benevolent laying-on-of-hands using the power of God. Many people in the MEDICAL, HEALTH and RELIGIOUS fields plus Many > Other fields, as well as those not in any career field, are now using Reiki as they know of the powerful, benevolent Spiritual Energy that it is and what it represents > (a Loving energy that may be used to more positively assist mankind).
II TIMOTHY 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
GOD’S WORK SHOULD NEVER BE THE SUBJECT OF RIDICULE OR SKEPTICISM! It bears repeating: God’s Work Should Never Be the Subject of Ridicule or Skepticism! And those who would belittle that work are subject to making serious explanations during their judgment. As Reiki masters (and also those who are only practitioners), We Proudly Carry Forth God’s Energy and Dr. Usui’s Torch As God Directs And Will Not Allow Reiki To Become Lost. When a Master or practitioner is charged with Spiritual Responsibility to carry on the Usui Reiki lineage, Ethical Principles, Teachings, etc., if an entity, whomsoever, interferes with that Sacred Process, that entity is interfering with our Sacred Vows, as we have the first amendment right to practice, which is protected by provisions and protections in the Constitution. That which is used to bring spiritual energy to a world in need is more than good, it is a blessing! We have to help break down the barriers that exist to denigrate anything that is used for the Highest and Best Good! Reiki, after all, is a very important part of the spiritual life force energy coming from God that encompasses ALL. The following passage from The Holy Bible seems apropos for those who would judge and denigrate others and chastise them for their spiritual convictions – MATTHEW 7:1-5: “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considereth not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”
THE USUI REIKI INITIATION RITE OR “ATTUNEMENT” Concerning the Usui Reiki Initiation Rite or “attunement” as it is sometimes mistakenly called, that a student receives in order to have Reiki, had I not known beforehand that the energy used in Reiki is to Help mankind and not used to cause harm, I might have had second thoughts about receiving the necessary Initiation. And when I stop to think—Why should I allow a person to perform an Initiation on me, especially if I want God to direct my course in life to help mankind, shouldn’t it, therefore, be God initiating me instead? I also immediately see the reality of the situation in that God uses special people to help Him do His work. Take for example, a wedding ceremony. While we all know that those special words that refer to being “…in the presence of God…” means that God is right there during the ceremony, God is also using a priest, minister, Rabbi or other clergyperson or even a Justice of the Peace or some other official, sometimes, in order to perform the marriage ceremony.
The same holds true with a Reiki Initiation (remember, it is the preferred term over ‘attunement’). It is God’s Anointing, His Divine energy that confers Reiki to the initiate, yet God uses a specially trained person, a master (meaning a teacher), to help facilitate the Initiation ceremony. Once I clearly understood that, I felt a lot more comfortable and at ease in receiving my Reiki Initiations knowing that God was also there and that it was actually He who was conferring the benevolent Reiki energy to me for this purpose by using one of His creations, a human being, to help Him do this. And since I also knew that once I received a Reiki Initiation, It Is For Life And Cannot Be Removed, even by a Reiki master, giving further credence to the energy being from God and thus irrevocable, I thought back to the many ways Reiki could be used to help mankind and our world, and I felt my initiation was for such a worthwhile purpose that it was something I would always want to embrace, cherish and hold very dear to my heart. I have seen how God’s energy can help people, and that is God’s blessing on those who wish to partake in the feast.
WHY USE REIKI WHEN ONE CAN SIMPLY PRAY? Some may also ask, why use Reiki if one can simply pray? Yes, one can certainly pray and SHOULD, however, as Christ has taught us, there is No Substitute for the laying-on-of-hands, otherwise, Christ Jesus would have simply prayed over the people who came to Him seeking His help instead of laying hands on them as He was Always known to do when people were right in front of Him. And while Christ also prayed to His Father, He taught His disciples to lay hands on the sick. (Go back and check this article for the many examples used to demonstrate the Biblical references to the Laying-On-Of-Hands).
Perhaps one of the most thought about questions is the following. I have provided my thoughts on that as well. WHY USE REIKI WHEN ONE HAS AND CAN INVOKE THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE LAYING-ON-OF-HANDS? We Can and Should Invoke The Holy Spirit anytime the Laying-On-Of-Hands is done as that is absolutely our Christian right to do! Certainly The Holy Ghost is a very important part of everyone who accepts Jesus Christ (Our Lord and Savior) and who embraces The Holy Trinity. Again, I am one to strongly believe that we should always invoke The Holy Ghost in the Laying-On-Of-Hands, afterall, who else could be bringing us God’s healing energy! Reiki Is Not The ‘Only’ Way, However, It Is One Important Way With Which To Glorify God Through Jesus Christ, Therefore It Is A Valid Way. For many, however, it bears repeating, so again I say that we need to ask ourselves the question: Who brings us the benevolent, spiritually healing energy in Reiki, based upon God’s Unconditional Love, if not The Holy Ghost! The problem seems to be that there are those who will simply lay hands unprepared and without true conviction. They seem to think that just by laying their hands without actually knowing how to truly contact God’s spirit in the process, will be the miraculous panacea to what it is they are trying to accomplish. That is not so. Many things have to be learned and manifested first as God is not mocked. The same thing can be said for priests, for instance. I personally do not feel that too many people could just walk off the street and call themselves a “priest” if they did not first make a serious commitment to take instruction and an oath and then have a sacred initiatory rite (Holy Order) done on them to confer them into the priesthood. So, learning how to do Reiki and then being initiated into it works on the same principle that can give many people more confidence that they are actually prepared to lay hands as is spiritually correct.
In Usui Reiki, as Reverend Takata taught, a person learns how to get in touch with God, whose energy it is that is actually used. There are people who cannot learn to do the proper Laying-On-Of-Hands in a church, even if they want to, because it is, most unfortunately, not being currently taught in many places. There should be a church rite for the Laying-On-Of-Hands that should be taught to each and every person who wishes to learn it, just like bishops learn how to confirm priests into the priesthood (Holy Orders) and do confirmations, consecrations, etc. by using a rite, and how priests also learn how to hear confessions and give absolution, perform Extreme Unction, etc. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be many churches that teach the Holy Rite Of The Laying-On-Of-Hands to those who are interested in learning it. Those in Reiki who wish to know more about what they are doing when they ask God to come in and help others or for a situation at hand, take the time to actually study and receive the Initiation Rite into Reiki in order to bring God’s benevolent energy to what is at hand. In this way, they know that they are doing it in a manner conducive to making the connection to God quickly and do not have to rely on fear and other negative feelings when doing the Laying-On-Of-Hands which can serve to detract from and minimize the efforts of this great spiritual energy.
Again, everyone should invoke The Holy Ghost when performing the Sacred Practice of The Laying-On-Of-Hands. But no one should ever tell another that they have to use either this spiritual healing art called Reiki or another to try to override their Free Will choice in such personal matters. It should always be very personal for all interested since all that is spiritual is very personal. To those of us who work with Christian Reiki, invoking God as one in The Holy Trinity, is already being done, and we give All the Glory to God (as did Reverend Takata). But for those who have no avenue for studying the steps to be taken in The Laying-On-Of-Hands and want to feel like they are doing it right and with confidence, Reiki can help in this regard and perhaps that is why so many sisters, nuns, priests and other clergy, while also having the Power of God always at hand, are doing Reiki, since it puts one in touch with God to bring forth His energy and they have actually taken the time to learn How to do it and have received Initiation to feel confident enough to know that Reiki is there, Working With God’s Power, and cannot be taken away from them ever, as once conferred, it is For Life.
I strongly suspect that many feel there is something quite special just in ‘knowing’ that they have received actual Lessons and Initiation into a God-based energy this spiritual that is so helpful to others, and the great feeling that they get afterwards knowing that they have helped others as well as self, in some way, that lead them to make a personal decision to study and use Reiki. I know I personally feel that way! Do Know And Understand That God Should ALWAYS Be Glorified When Doing Reiki, for that is the core, the primary purpose of the energy!
Let us also not forget that a book has been written that speaks of a nun in Poland who is a Reiki master and who received a certificate by the Pope to practice Reiki. And since some may associate Reiki with things Buddhist (a religion), which it is not, let’s nevertheless not lose sight of the fact that the Catholic Pope has met with the Dalai Lama and did not condemn him or his religion. By the way, there are MANY other cases of Christian clergy and sisters/nuns studying, practicing and even teaching Reiki. Many Christian Religious Institutions Where Priests, Sisters and/or Nuns Are Trained and Work Now, Practice and Teach Reiki.
As far as using other methods for well-ness and transformative purposes, let’s also not forget Father Hehl, who was a Jesuit priest and his use of magnetics and magnetism for healing. And while his method is not used in Reiki, this is only mentioned because there are some who seem to feel that Christians should not use any other means but God. But God has given us these energies too with which to help ourselves, let’s not forget! By the way, St. Thomas Aquinas, a great Christian Saint, believed in astrology as it related to phenomena that was natural. The Popes of the middle 14th century to middle 15th centuries are also said to have believed in astrology as did Pope Sixtus IV. Earlier, I mentioned I CORINTHIANS 12:4-10. This Biblical passage would appear to likewise apply to this situation as well as to the following. Recently, the Pope canonized Padre Pio as a saint. Padre Pio was said to have been able to bi-locate and predict the future! The fact that he was still canonized a saint speaks volumes for this psychically-gifted person who obviously received his gift of psychic insight from God. This can further only exemplify what I CORINTHIANS 12: 4-10 is saying. But aside from that and as it concerns Reiki, the human body is composed of electro-magnetic energy and the aura and chakras are touched by Reiki, as God directs, to help balance the etheric energy body and according to how much the recipient needs which he or she “draws” from the spiritual energy. This in turn, can help other levels of their being in different ways. One additional word about the Etheric Body, ECCLESIASTES 12: 6-7 mentions the words “golden bowl” which it has been said is making reference to the etheric body. “Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” The words “silver cord” used here is often used by intuitives and psychics when referring to that special cord that connects our astral body to our physical body. In our dream state, it is by this cord that we can freely move about in the astral plane and then return to our body safely. It also connects us to God and therefore, to life itself. When severed by death or transition, the body loses its ability to continue with life on this planet and the soul goes on to its appointed place as per God’s direction.
One has the opportunity to learn how to use Reiki for the benefit of mankind, or he/she can remain stymied in unfounded dogma regarding that which some do not fully understand but profess to, in order to attempt to discourage the use of an otherwise peaceful, Loving and benevolent spiritual energy that is used in helping our fellow man. The choice is yours! The time to turn the tide of misinformation about Reiki is here!
I TIMOTHY 4: 14-16 “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”
The term “Laying-On-Of-Hands” refers to a wonderful and Very Sacred process whereby God’s spiritual energy is transferred to the recipient, according to Divine Will. When masters or practitioners of Reiki lay hands upon a recipient, transformative, spiritually healing energy from God, The Source, is transferred to and drawn upon as needed at that point in time by the recipient.
Again, please remember that God, through His Most Beloved Son, +++ CHRIST JESUS+++ Is The Source Of ALL That Is, including the most benevolent energy in the laying-on-of-hands such as Reiki that, coupled with practicing the Five Spiritual – Ethical Principles of Reiki, may help mankind to become better focused and a more spiritually-oriented, loving people. We are very thankful for the opportunity to have His Wonderful, Omnipotent Light and His Love! In my opinion, however, it is unfortunate that many Christian-based churches appear to not be teaching the Laying-On-Of-Hands as it is not mentioned or taught openly during many services, per se, and those who wish to learn it may find themselves at a loss. But fortunately, Dr. Usui, of Japan, after having been asked by his students how Christ Jesus healed, rediscovered this wonderful technique that while it may not exactly emulate Christ’s healing work (Since Christ Is Divine) is nevertheless a very Loving, Strong and Benevolent energy that was brought to us by God with which to help our fellow man. For that, we should be ever thankful!
Another great similarity between Reiki and Christianity is that Reiki may suddenly “turn on”, sporadically as needed, when a person in need approaches a practitioner or master. And the similarity in that which is Biblical is that when a woman touched Christ’s robe, He turned around and said that He had felt “healing virtue” leave from Him at that moment (MARK 5: 25-34). Some years ago, as one of God’s children, I experienced something somewhat similar. I was attending a benevolent spiritual fair and had stepped into a class that was being taught there and as I was facing forward towards the lecturer, I suddenly began to feel an intense energy on my back, in fact, it was So Intense that I literally started perspiring profusely. I didn’t know quite what was going on but at that very moment, a woman approached me from behind and told me that she had been somehow drawn to me and proceeded to place both of her hands on my back and exclaimed that she felt such comforting heat radiating from me and that she felt so good. The class instructor then exclaimed “Ah, we have a healer in the class!”. I nodded and said “And His Name Is Jesus Christ, who is the Actual One who is bringing this wonderful energy!”. I have never forgotten that incident and have been very humbled by it. This, to me, was a further indication of the wonderful words Christ spoke when He assured us that we could do Greater Works Than He as He goes to The Father. Thanks Be To God for this wonderful gift!
ROMANS 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” May the Lord +++ CHRIST JESUS +++ guide and help everyone who is called forth to help bring Spiritual, Benevolent and Loving energy to a world in need!
NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU TAKE REIKI, IT IS A VERY PERSONAL DECISION! Please also Know and Understand that the practice of Reiki is a most special one and it is YOU ALONE who have to feel led to this spiritual practice and make the decision For Yourself as to whether this is right for you or what you want to do. No one can make that decision for you as it is a most individual one! Again, It Must Be Highly Stressed That Reiki Does Not Ever Take the Place of God. For It Is God Who Empowers ALL Healing and Transformative Energy, Including REIKI In The First Place.
REIKI IS OFTEN REFERRED TO AS “SPIRITUAL LIFE FORCE ENERGY”. THIS SPIRITUAL LIFE FORCE ENERGY IS THE VERY SAME AS GIVEN AT BIRTH AND PRE-BIRTH BY GOD. GOD GIVES TO EACH AND EVERY PERSON ALIVE TODAY THIS LIFE FORCE SO THAT THEY CAN FUNCTION AND MAINTAIN THEMSELVES IN THIS WORLD UNTIL THEY ARE CALLED BACK HOME BY HIM.
The Japanese Symbols used in Reiki do not take the place of prayer as some who are misinformed may try to lead you to believe. Instead, Reiki works wonderfully together with prayers! God, through Reiki, allows Christians and many others access to this Spiritual energy that may be used to help a world in need. PROVERBS 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” YOU MUST HAVE FAITH IN GOD!
There are some who feel that having FAITH is not a necessary element in Reiki. I Say IT IS! But one does not have to have faith in Reiki, but without faith in GOD, who directs Reiki, we could not accomplish anything! I point to MATTHEW 17:20 “….if you have faith as small as a mustard seed…Nothing will be impossible for you.”; also to LUKE 7:50 “And He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” and in addition, HEBREWS 11: 1-2 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.”. Remember also the nobleman whose son was ill and Jesus who told him that his son was actually now well. The man had great faith in Christ’s words and indeed his son had been healed! And having Faith in that the Loving power of God will be to your benefit along with taking responsibility for your own actions and accepting that you wish to change and become free of impediments, is the Key that can work wonders!
And please remember the words of Christ Jesus in JOHN 15:5: “….For Without Me Ye Can Do Nothing.”. Therefore, with Reiki, we can only channel or bring forth God’s merciful energy but allow HIM to conduct the change or changes as He deems necessary in the recipient. But He has allowed us to use this wonderful tool called Reiki, with the Laying-On-Of-Hands, with which to help humanity (II TIMOTHY 1:6 “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”. Further, my knowingness that God is the Source of Reiki rests, in part, on the fact that I Always Invoke Christ Jesus before engaging in Reiki practice, otherwise, the connection simply would not feel complete or ready and in fact, would not be there. I pray In His Name that I may be connected to Reiki through Christ Jesus and as soon as those words are uttered, either silently or aloud, I Am Connected To Reiki Most Profoundly and Without Reservation!
My unequivocal belief in The Deity being comprised of The Holy Trinity – God The Father, God The Son (Christ Jesus) and God The Holy Ghost, brings me that instant connection to Reiki as it just does not seem the same at all, unequivocally speaking, without first invoking God. The real test came when I was first learning Reiki in my Reiki I class when I tried connecting without God or His Divine Son Christ, and I felt at odds with the connection. But as soon as I invoked Christ Jesus, that wonderful feeling of true ‘connectedness’ overcame me and what has transpired each and every time since that day has been my Proof of God Being the Source of Reiki. From this experience, I have been deeply touched and *humbled and feel very blessed. Please Also Remember That There Can Be No Scientific Explanation For The Energy That Comes From God. It Just IS! There can be hundreds and indeed thousands of experiments to try to see or understand the difference in Reiki energy, yet such energy stands on its own God -given Spiritual Merits and cannot be treated as a scientific experiment of any kind.
Should you desire additional information, I have written another article entitled “Further Discourse On Usui Reiki For Christians” that can be requested by e-mail. It is a complimentary copy!
In closing, I call attention to the beautiful words found in ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 8:16 — “IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH RISE UP AND WALK.” And please always remember MATTHEW 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, ALL power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” That is the unequivocal PROOF that the power behind all benevolent energies, including Reiki, comes from God and is directed By God (as previously stated in ROMANS 13: 1-2). That proof is incontrovertible!
Many Blessings To You Through God’s Divine and Most Beloved Son Christ Jesus! And Please Also Remember Those Wonderful Words In LUKE 1:37 “WITH GOD NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE”.
