Whose Business Are You In?

Every stressful thought you have comes from being in the wrong business. There’s your business, their business, and God’s business. Whose business are you in? (Byron Katie)
These days we are guilted into thinking that we must worry about everyone else, or we’re selfish. BS. You cannot change anything outside of yourself!! PERIOD! “Worry” is a stuck energy anyway. It holds everything back.
BE the change you want to see. Face the dark night of the soul head on. Get comfortable with the uncomfortable. It is the only way to overcome anything in your path.
A whole staircase can seem insurmountable, but the first step is in only one that counts in this moment. 1% journey gets you farther than nothing at all.
When we focus on self first, and build our own strength, resolve, and self respecting boundaries, the whole world can look different because our own perspective changes.
What about so and so? What about this? Or that?
Nature (God) unfolds in miraculous patterns of chaos. Who are we to interfere with anything outside ourselves? Life and death are all part of this incredible journey. Who are we to interfere with another’s journey or soul mission, even under the guise of being helpful? We do not know another person’s life lessons or soul journey.
In one of my leadership courses, we did an exercise where we paired up with a stranger and poured out a deeply personal story. We took turns being the speaker and the supporter. We were instructed that the person sharing may cry and feel into their story. The support person was instructed to just listen. There would be someone coming around with a box of tissues. The support person was not allowed to take a tissue to hand to the speaker. Why? Because that interferes and stumps their own progress of growth. You need to feel it and face it to be able to grow and move past that moment. By taking the tissue themselves, they were taking their first step towards empowering themselves.
A simple yet profound exercise. And.. an example of staying in our own business.
