Attitudes and Opinions
Originally written 2012

Through the things I have been through in life I have gained understanding of many things, changed some of my views as I have gotten older, and developed a very sarcastic and twisted sense of humor. The following is a bunch of random thoughts on a variety of topics. These are my views and opinions both serious and silly. Some are quotes from favorite songs. Perhaps you share the same thoughts, maybe you don’t. It is my hope that you find something useful and/or entertaining. In conversations with me, you may hear me recite many of the quotes here.

You can sit there and judge me
Say what you want to…
But I’ll make it on my own
I’ve gotta prove them wrong
Me Against the World ~Simple Plan

When the world gets in my face, I say have a nice day! ~Bon Jovi

Be who you are and say what you feel because those that matter don’t mind, and those that mind, DON’T MATTER!

Nothing like English homework to make one wish they had chosen the ignorant path of the inbred redneck instead of striving for more in life. ~ Princess Meri

I can’t give solutions to all of life’s problems, doubts or fears. But i can listen to you and together we will search answers. I can’t change your past with all it’s heartache and pain, nor the future with its untold stories. But I can be there now when you need me to care. I cant keep your feet from stumbling. I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall. Your joys, triumphs, success and happiness are not mine, yet I can share in your laughter…….”Your decisions in life are not mine to make, nor to judge, I can only support you, encourage you and help you when you ask. I can’t prevent you from falling away from friendship, from your values, from me… I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you. I can’t give you boundaries which I have determined for you. But I can give you the room to change, to grow, room to be yourself. I can’t keep your heart from breaking and hurting. But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces and put them back in place. I can’t tell you who you are. I CAN ONLY LOVE YOU AND BE YOUR FRIEND. !!!! (Thank you Rachelle DeLorey!!)

While we are sleeping, angels have conversations with our souls  🙂

“Can’t” is just another way of saying, “I don’t want to”.

Dreams are wings for our souls. So let your dreams SOAR!

If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man’s life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility. ~ Longfellow

Pledge allegiance to yourself. BELIEVE in miracles. Leap before you look. Laugh a lot along the way. Dive IN. Dare to make mistakes. Follow angel footprints. Listen to YOUR own wise and gentle, knowing voice. Hug the little child in you. Breath deep, trusting breaths. See things from an upside-down point of view. Live your DREAMS. Demand nothing less than everything. Life has big plans for you!

YOU ARE WHERE YOU CHOOSE TO BE! IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, ONLY YOU CAN CHANGE IT!!

No man is ever worth your tears. One that is won’t make you cry.

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour. ~ William Blake

Only she who attempts the absurd, achieves the impossible.

If God closes a door, he usually opens a window.

When God takes something away, He always replaces it with something better.

Listen to your inner voice, it is your guardian angel talking.

If it looks good, you’ll see it. If it sounds good, you’ll hear it. If it’s marketed right, you’ll buy it. But… if it’s real, you’ll feel it. ~ Kid Rock

I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”  ~ Marilyn Monroe

Music is an expressive art form. It is also a universal language that can set a mood, stir up memories, and bridge barriers between friends.

“Day in, day out, all we know, things go better with rock, the only time I turn it down is when I’m feeling low…. Turn up the radio” ~ Autograph

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

So what if they’re talking about me…at least they’re leaving some other poor sap alone.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

A wasted day is a day in which we have not laughed.

What goes around, comes around!

God put me on Earth to accomplish a certain number of things… Right now I am so far behind I will never die!

Everything happens for a reason…and every person that crosses your life’s path can teach you a life’s lesson.

Organized people are just too lazy to look for things.

Nothing lasts forever, so enjoy what you have while it lasts, because tomorrow it may be gone, never to be had again.

If you are in a bad mood, try finding something nice to say to someone else… a genuine compliment to a stranger, and their smile in return, will put you in a good mood.

Sometimes sanity costs money. In other words, sometimes it is worth it to get a babysitter, for example, or some other ‘frivolous’ spending when you are broke, just to get out and pamper yourself and take a break. You will find that you are a better parent for doing so.

You need to love yourself before someone else can love you.

Rock music is meant to be played loud and proud… turn it up!!

“For those about to rock, we salute you” ~AC/DC

“Better to burn out, than fade away” ~ Def Leppard

“Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it” ~ Metallica

Men should be like music: heavy, hard and got a good rhythm.

You can tell a lot about someone’s character by their handshake.

Dogs are very good at judging character. If a normally friendly dog has a problem with someone, it is worth it to find out why before putting your trust in that person.

If a dog will not come to you after he has looked you in the face, you ought to go home and examine your conscience. ~President Woodrow Wilson

Respect must be earned, never given — no matter who you are. Even titles have no meaning without reputable character to back them up.

It’s best not to judge someone else. Given the right circumstances, anything can happen and people are capable of doing things they normally wouldn’t have done. There is an old native moral: Never judge someone else until you have walked a mile in their moccasins. Very true!

When choosing a name for a child (or a pet), stand out on the back porch and yell the name several times. Get in practice! Also write the full chosen name 100 times. You will be doing this for school and legal forms constantly.

Multi-tasking is the art of screwing up several things at once.

I am sweet and innocent and never do anything wrong.  I am naturally sweet, never been charged with anything illegal, and wrong is a matter of opinion. 🙂

My excuse for sometimes being scatter brained? ‘You lose one-quarter of your brain with every child that you have and I have four children.’ or ‘Somebody’s home, the lights aren’t always on.’

I’m not crazy, weird, or strange. I’m just unique. The world can’t handle two of me anyway. 🙂

Some people are like Slinkies…   Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun’s out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed, only if there is light within.     Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

God is creating beautiful tapestries with our lives. He can see the top side of the tapestry, we see the bottom. To us, at times, life seems in shambles because all we see are the ‘tangled threads’. Black threads (down times) are necessary to make the colorful threads (good times) stand out and be more beautiful. Occasionally, when we look back at our lives, we can see how our experiences have shaped our character…. Only then can we see the beautiful tapestry that has been woven.

Everyone needs a senior citizen for a friend. You can learn so much from their wisdom. Often you will find they are just young people in old people bodies. 🙂

Marriage: I believe in the sanctity of marriage, and I admire anyone these days who can hold one together.

Divorce: It is actually a form of child abuse. I am not saying that someone should stay in a bad relationship. I am saying that if you end up getting divorced, do everything in your power to help a child through it. And do not let them be in the middle!!

Divorce is worse than death in that you have all the same feelings of loss of a loved one, but you have betrayal, mistrust and guilt feelings too.

Grieving is a process. Shock, denial, anger, grief, and finally acceptance. There is no right way to deal with grief. Everyone handles it differently, and may go through the stages in any order.

Incest: The most horrific crime that can be done against a child. I read a book that gave me so much more insight and understanding, that I recommend this book to everyone! “Secret Survivors” by E. Sue Blume. The author has a lot of compassion for the incest survivor and describes in detail the psychological after effects that occur from this crime. In this book, incest is also redefined to mean anyone in a position of trust, not just blood relations. It makes a lot of sense to understand the trust issues and fears that carry into adulthood. The information contained within this book, I think, would be also beneficial to anyone who has grown up with alcoholism and other abuses in their lives.

Maturity: Doesn’t necessarily match up with biological age. Maturity comes more from experience than years on the calendar. Once you have lost a love, and/or had a child, you are on a whole different level than those who have not experienced these things.

Intuition: the most wonderful gift we have within ourselves! Going through life one can learn to listen to that ‘gut feeling’ and save a lot of grief. Unfortunately, I personally have a thick skull, so I have had to learn some lessons a few times. A very good book to read is “The Gift of Fear” by Gavin de Becker. Very informative and easy to understand, this book gives a lot of insight into recognizing and understanding your intuition.

Abortion: For the most part, I am fully against abortion. My views have wavered over the years considering the things I have been through in life. I would never suggest that I regret having my children as I love each of them dearly, but in hindsight I would think twice of getting pregnant in the first place. I truly feel that women need to be more educated and informed so as to avoid the situation at all. It is not enough to just degrade them by saying they should have kept their legs shut. It is even more grievous to realize how many children are left to their own devices to survive in this world because they were not a planned pregnancy.

When it comes to the company of a woman, men are ‘too busy’ only when they want to be.

It took me a long time to understand the meaning behind an engagement ring costing your man three months salary. If he is willing to spend that much of his hard earned money on such a sentimental gift of commitment, he will be more likely to put that much effort into the marriage. Besides, a woman is worth it!!

The bottom line: Men marry with their hearts and screw with their dicks. If you’re not the one holding his heart, he’s not worth your time. And, once a cheater always a cheater… if he did it to her, he’ll eventually do it to you.

Over the years I have realized a few beliefs and views based on my experience which shapes ME, I guess. Just to give you an idea……

First and foremost I was raised Christian (Pentecostal, Evangelical). I used to go to church regularly but I have experiences in life since then that have tarnished some of those views and strengthened others. I am very open minded about ‘universal spirituality’, the law of attraction, and Karmic views. I believe there is Someone/something always in control… and He is my bestest friend. I know that because of events in my life that have no other logical explanation. I willing share these views, but prefer not to think I push views on others because we are all responsible for self and I hate it when people get fanatical about anything and try to push their views on me.

Causes that are dear to me:

Environmental concerns: I believe that we should take care of Earth, use resources sparingly and thoughtfully. I try to be conscious of my buying decisions; I recycle as much as I can; I subscribe to a recycling type newsletter, and I encourage others to do the same with the resources available. check out www.storyofstuff.com for an interesting 20 minute video.

Homeopathy/ nutrition: I believe in this fast paced world, too many people eat improper diets and that contributes to health problems which in turn affects everyone in one way or another. (Jobs, burdened health resources, costs etc.). One person can affect so many others this way. I am willing to try natural foods and vitamins and proper diets etc., yet I still eat enough chocolate to kill a horse :p

Child abuse: I could rant and rave about this one…. This is one subject I am fanatical about!! I believe that children should be raised in a loving and respectful environment, yet still challenged enough to be able to grow to be independent. This, to me, is the basis of a strong society. I believe ALL the crime and horrible news stories can be traced back to a child who was neglected and unloved.
